This gym rocks! The owner Eric Heup is a gem of a human being and makes coming to the gym at 6:15am a pleasure! The awesome staff is fun, kind, knowledgeable and really works to meet you where you are in your fitness journey. While this is a no nonsense gym, its members are of all ages and abilities and there is no judgement of any kind. And, of course, there is a little nonsense in the form of goofing and laughs along the way! It is a fun and welcoming community.

I came to this gym with 3 spine fusions and in my early 50’s. The coaches worked with me to modify the prescribed workouts so I could strengthen and increase my function gradually and without triggering my PTSD about hurting myself. After about 9 months of going 3-5x/week, I crave the workouts and have not felt this good in a long time! The gains lie in consistency – come often and don’t compromise your form. You will be healthy and fit before you know it and you will make some great Fairwinds friends and enjoy the process:)

It is not an exaggeration to say that Eric and team at Fairwinds have changed my life. I showed up skeptical (and maybe a little grumpy) at 53 yo, recovering from an injury, totally disconnected from any kind of regular workout routine, and semi-traumatized from one bad CrossFit experience in my past. I would give this place 10 stars, but Google says I can’t and to stop calling. I’ve been a member since May ‘22 and knew it’s been a great fit for me. The coaches—incredible. The people—fantastic. The equipment— everything you need. If you’re curious about CrossFit and want to give it a shot for just a month or so Eric can set you up—no pressure or commitment. You get plenty of one on one coaching throughout the class to make sure you’re developing in your fitness goals. All levels of fitness are welcome and challenged. Love this place.

I started CrossFit at 67 and have been coming off and on for 4 years, as travel and covid permit. I LOVE it and I LOVE Fairwinds. I’ve joined probably a dozen gyms in my life and never stuck with it. CrossFit changed that. Eric is a wonderful human being and a great coach and he surrounds himself with coaches that are equally fun, friendly, professional, and skilled.
What sets this place apart is the coaches perfect scaling to a very wide range of fitness levels. We all get to do the same WOD, but with different specifics. I run 200m while others are doing 800+. I lift 50 pounds while some are at 150 and more. I pull up from rings while others are improving their pullups, and I trust I’ll get there! I am inspired by the accomplished athletes and learn from everyone. There’s no pressure, no competition (except with myself) and I really appreciate the 9:30 session’s kind of laid back yet very fitness focused atmosphere. Thanks, TJ and Mary!

I was traveling to the Annapolis area for a wedding and wanted to drop into a local box. I emailed the gym and the owner, Eric, responded to me quickly to give me the run down on how to sign up for class. It was a seamless process and their website is super informative! Once I got to the gym, I was able to meet Eric who showed me around the facility to help me feel like a new member of the gym. The coach of the class, TJ, was excellent. He had a well-thought and thorough warm-up while helping everyone through each step along the way. When it came to workout, he was motivating and assisting with coaching athletes through any movements as needed. Lastly, the members I met in class were very inviting. All were really friendly and helped point me in the direction of any equipment. I even got a few recommendations for some local eats! Overall, this gym is phenomenal. I can tell how much Eric and his staff care about this place and it shows in the community they have behind it. Will definitely stop back in the future if I’m ever in the area again!

Tucked away in a beautiful marina, you have a gem of a facility where they will help ease you into their version of CrossFit culture.

Prior to my first class I had ZERO CrossFit experience. As you can imagine I was very nervous. The owner/ coach, Eric, did a great job helping me feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for during my first session. All workouts are posted in advanced – so there’s no curveballs (love that) good instruction on the equipment needed and setup for each workout. I definitely looked lost , all the members were eager to help.

After set up and an explanation of what to expect, we did a proper warm up. Eric chose excellent warm up exercises to prep our bodies for the more complex movements. Eric offered great cues to help me correct any poor form /biomechanics.

The workout was “for time” meaning you do the work as fast as you can. I definitely needed to use ALL the time 🤣. Everyone was cheering me on to help get me through the workout – since everyone finished before me already.

And I’m already going back for day 2.

There’s also a cool dynamic where some people in the class were more intense about the workout- they were more in their own world getting focused for the tough work to come- then there was also a more talkative community oriented side. It’s a great mix. Just come be you and have fun improving your health.
